The Blue Devils Rushed Home for Spring Break

Josh McRoberts and his Blue Devils just can’t wait to catch the end of the spring break, can they? The Blue Devils are stunned by the game winning jumper of Maynor of VCU. TV commentator said that the last time Devils couldn’t make it into second round was centuries ago. He’s exaggerating, but this could be the worst Devils in the decade.

This game set up many “first”, but not in a good way. Ie: the first loss in the first round since 1996. The first loss against a team seeded No.11 or worse since 1985 under Coach K(2nd time overall). This season the Devils also unranked for the first time since 1996. They also lost in the first round of the ACC tournament for the first time in decades (Also the first time they failed to make the final in 9 yrs). Apparently, we got lots to compare between Team 96 and Team 07: which is worse?

I put them lost in the second round on my bracket. They are actually worse than what I thought. And I must admit that I wasn’t really shocked after all. I once consider to pick VCU for my bracket, but ended up decide to show some loyalty of my royal blue, at least in the first round. This is the typical mistake for a fantasy player or a sports gambler: making decisions by your emotion.

Josh McRoberts scored a career high 22 points but could simply ruined all his chance to be selected as a lottery pick. I still think he should drop school ASAP. Instead of being a mediocre center, he could be a pretty good PF. Zoubek’s incapability to compete caused the Devils a horrible season and Josh’s potential brilliant career. The Devils need a real deal in the paint, and more athletic players like Gerald Henderson (and Coach K must put him on the court longer). We are not in the Ivy League, we could not expect to dominate the league by bunches of pure shooters only, unless you find the next JJ.

This is sort of the end of a dynasty. Coach K must find a way to protect his K-Ville. Loyal Cameron Crazies will always be with the Devils!
