Roger-Rafa rivalry renewal

It’s been exactly one year since Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal last played in the final of an ATP tour (Madrid 09). It’s so hard to believe it as we are so used to follow their epic rivalry over and over. This sport is tough!
Very happy to see them back on the top. While Federer dominated during his prime, many fans complained that tennis is boring because he was so dominant that all other players can only fight for the runner up trophy. After that Nadal rose to the top and started this greatest rivalry in the history of the sport. We witnessed unbelievable tennis between them from clay to grass, from Paris to London. Fans complained that they are too dominant that the game is not exciting enough.
Truth is we need them to be dominant. From the beginning of this year, most of the Big 4 struggled. And we are having the worse quality than before. This brings me back to 2002-2003 when tennis is still looking for the next King. Coincidentally we did not see equal quality of tennis compares to Roger era. Instead, we had one time Grand Slam Champion such as Thomas Johansson, Gaston Gaudio, and so on. Tennis is better off when Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal are sharp. Basketball fans do not complain about the dominance of Michael Jordan or Larry Bird or Magic Johnson. The heroes bring the sports to the next level.
Can’t wait to watch the final!
